Xiaomi has introduced in China the third generation of its portable air compressor, Mijia Air Pump 3, betting on a clear speed leap over the previous model: a new precision 21 mm die-cast alloy cylinder and a more powerful motor allow the device to inflate 25% faster, reaching a maximum pressure of 150 psi.
The performance leap isn’t limited to raw speed: Mijia Air Pump 3 also integrates a pressure sensor with a measurement accuracy of ± 1 psi and automatic calibration, to prevent over- or under-inflation on different objects.
To suit different uses, the device offers six preset modes: Auto (2.5 bar as default pressure, supports values between 1.8 and 3.5 bar), Motorcycle (2.4 bar), Bicycle (45 psi), Scooter (50 psi), Ball (8 psi), and a custom mode that covers the entire range from 3 to 150 psi.
The power comes from two 2,500 mAh lithium batteries integrated into the body of the device, which, according to the company, guarantee up to 10 full inflations for a car tire, 19 for a road bike, or 80 for a ball.
Charging is via USB-C: with a 5V/2A adapter, the average time is around 3 hours. The batteries also stay under the 100 Wh threshold, a detail that allows carrying the device as carry-on luggage on an airplane.
Mijia Air Pump 3 includes a display that shows in real time the progress of inflation, as well as an integrated LED light (it also includes an SOS flashing mode for emergencies).
The new Xiaomi Mijia Air Pump 3 is available in China at a price of 199 yuan (about €26), and at the moment no international version has been announced. The Global model is likely to debut in the coming months as Xiaomi Portable Electric Air Compressor 3, following the naming of the previous models.
In Italy, both Xiaomi Portable Electric Air Compressor 2 and the higher 2 Pro variant are available for purchase, priced at €49.9 and €69.9, respectively.
