Samsung Unveils Its Smart Glasses in London: Here’s Everything We Know

During the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London, the South Korean company officially presented its vision for smart glasses.

Developed in close collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the new wearable devices aim to integrate Gemini’s AI directly into everyday life.

They are not bulky or complex headsets, but accessories with a careful design aimed at prolonged use, capable of acting as a natural extension of the smartphone rather than as its replacement.

The ultimate goal is to provide information and real-time assistance without forcing the user to look away from the surrounding environment.

The design is a crucial element of this new line of products. Learning from early experiences in the tech sector, which tended to target almost exclusively enthusiasts, the South Korean company decided to strongly focus on familiarity and fashion, forging partnerships with established brands such as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

The result translates into frames with a traditional look that hide advanced components inside. The model made with Gentle Monster features a slim black line, characterized by a straight upper edge and soft curves on the lower part.

The Warby Parker variant, on the other hand, opts for a brown shade with a slightly raised upper line. Both models have been shaped to ensure long-lasting comfort, carefully studying the contact points on the forehead and ears.

Battery life and durability

Managing power consumption in a device this small and light is a delicate task. To maximize efficiency, a special group formed by 50 technicians from Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm worked jointly to optimize every data flow.

The glasses, powered by the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, guarantee up to 9 hours of intensive use on a single charge. The protective case also provides enough energy for as many as 7 full charges, ensuring autonomy of several days.

A special focus has been placed on overall durability: the sensors and internal components are protected from rain, sweat, dust and sand, while the hinges resist corrosion. The temples enjoy excellent flexibility, allowing the user to handle the glasses without the fear of causing accidental damage.

For this initial version, the choice was to not include displays to keep energy consumption under tight control.

Advanced AI-powered features

The entire experience is based on constant synergy with Galaxy smartphones and with the cloud, where most of the processing takes place. Thanks to the integrated camera and the ongoing support of Gemini, people can capture context-related information in the environment they are in.

It is possible to frame a whiteboard at the end of a business meeting and find the notes neatly organized in the Samsung Notes app.

The system offers summaries of long messages, real-time translations of other languages, step-by-step directions and the sharing of what you are looking at during video calls. Interaction with the system takes place via voice commands and simple gestures.

Availability on the market

The release of these wearables is broadly slated for this autumn. The sale price and the exact launch date have not yet been announced, but the London presentation clearly outlined the strategy.

The company aims to expand its ecosystem by creating accessories that communicate seamlessly with smartphones and smartwatches, providing concrete, immediate, and discreet assistance during daily activities.
