Does your Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra also have a red tint on the screen?

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has been recording strong global sales, but in recent weeks some screen-related issues have emerged.

Many users are indeed reporting the appearance of a troublesome red tint that manifests in the center of the panel after a few months of use.

The issue has escalated to such proportions that it has pushed the South Korean company to launch a formal investigation to understand its origin and determine whether it is a manufacturing defect or a consequence linked to the new technologies implemented on the device.

Red screen on Galaxy S26 Ultra: Samsung opens a formal investigation

According to the South Korean publication Newsway, the volume of complaints has steadily increased on both social media and the brand’s official forum. Smartphone owners report that the panel did not show any defect at the time of purchase.

The red blotch tends to gradually develop, becoming clearly visible only after two or three months of normal use, concentrating specifically in the central portion of the glass.

A Samsung spokesperson confirmed to Asian media that the company is internally examining the matter to isolate the triggering cause. Complicating matters are also conflicting reports from a niche group of consumers, who instead complain of a general desaturation of red tones on the panel.

The Role of Privacy Display

The main suspect for this color alteration is the Privacy Display, a new feature designed to prevent people nearby from spying on smartphone contents by reading the screen from the side. This technology operates at the hardware level, manipulating the light emission of individual pixels.

Since this feature is exclusive to the S26 Ultra model, the correlation appears extremely probable, although other hypotheses remain such as production problems or OLED burn-in phenomena.

Even before the appearance of this abnormal hue, early buyers had already reported eye strain, headaches, and nausea. These issues, which for some persisted even after disabling the privacy function, seem to be linked to a low PWM dimming frequency of the panel.

Repairs and Context

Since this is almost certainly a physical degradation of the panel, a simple software update will not be able to fix the problem.

If the company were to formally recognize the problem as a manufacturing defect, it could proceed with the free repair or replacement of the affected smartphones.

However, there is a risk that the company could classify the situation differently, given that its support documents often specify how color variations are normal characteristics of AMOLED displays, suggesting customers calibrate the tones from the settings.
