Huawei Pura X View official: it’s the world’s first non-foldable wide smartphone

The Chinese giant has announced in its homeland the new tri-foldable Mate XT 2 but the news doesn’t end there. Huawei Pura X View has been presented by the company as the first smartphone in the world with a wide screen: a format designed to offer more visual space when watching videos, reading books, gaming and consulting documents, paired with a 7,000 mAh battery. And no, it’s not a folding device!

The wide format has so far only been seen on folding devices such as Huawei Pura X Max, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Xiaomi 18 Fold and the upcoming iPhone Ultra. In this case, the Asian giant has decided to exploit this particular form factor for a traditional smartphone and the result is a kind of a “little tablet” that remains relatively compact.

The heart of the experience, clearly, is the 6.39″ display with an aspect ratio of 16:9.5, wider than standard industry formats, with a resolution of 1.5K (2,232 x 1,320 pixels). The panel features minimal bezels of 1.05 mm on all sides, peak brightness of 6,500 nits and PWM at 2,160 Hz to reduce eye strain.

Huawei Pura X View measures only 6.68 mm in thickness and weighs 201 grams, and is available in four colors: Shadow Red, Linen Gray, Zero White and Phantom Black.

Technical specifications and software

Under the hood you’ll find the Kirin 9030S chipset (already seen on the Huawei Pura 90 series), paired with a vapor chamber cooling system and a redesigned antenna to improve signal reception.

Pura X View features a 7,000 mAh battery based on silicon-carbon technology, with 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

On the software side, the device runs <strong HarmonyOS 7, which introduces the new Huawei Share remote content sending feature: you can now send content to a contact even when they are not nearby, overcoming the limit of proximity-based sharing.

Camera

The camera setup includes a 200 MP RYYB main sensor in 1/1.28″ format, with an f/1.8 aperture and Red Maple technology for color rendering (the classic multispectral sensor typical of the manufacturer). To accompany them is a 50 MP periscope telephoto and an ultra-wide lens with a 112° field of view.

Among the software photography features are AI-based shooting suggestions and a dynamic 3D shots mode.

Price and release in China

Huawei Pura X View is offered in three configurations, all with 12 GB of RAM: 256 GB at 5,999 yuan (about €770), 512 GB at 6,999 yuan (about €898) and 1 TB at 8,499 yuan (about €1,090). Pre-orders will start on September 9 in its homeland, and it is very likely the new model will remain an exclusive product for the Chinese market.
