The Korean giant is reportedly working on a new pair of TWS earbuds with an innovative design for the Galaxy Buds lineup. Digging into Samsung’s app code, there surfaced first open-ear earbuds and now also a model equipped with ear hooks, a solution designed mainly to ensure greater stability during workouts and running.
The product would be known internally under the codename Buds Canal 5, but it could reach the market under a completely different commercial name.
The images uncovered by the source would show earbuds equipped with flat hooks that wrap around the ear, similar to those used by many sports-focused wireless headphones. A configuration like this should help keep the earbuds securely in place even during more intense physical activities.
From the images, there is also evidence of a component that should enter the ear canal. It is not yet clear whether Samsung has chosen a traditional in-ear design, with silicone tips offering better isolation, or a semi in-ear solution, more open but certainly more comfortable.
The first configuration would allow greater isolation of the user from external noises, while the second could be less invasive during prolonged use. At the moment, however, it is not known which of the two solutions will be adopted.
The new Galaxy Buds should be accompanied by a charging case with a USB Type-C port. Also there will certainly be a certain level of dust and water resistance, a fundamental feature for a product designed primarily for sport.
Samsung has not yet officially announced the new earbuds, so there is only to wait for further rumors or a confirmation from the brand.
