There’s only one day left until the launch event of the new Redmi Note 17 (in China), but the leak machine is unstoppable. An insider has shed light on the latest details related to the specifications, allowing us to trace the nearly complete spec sheet for the first two models of the family (there remains some doubt about the flagship device, the much-talked-about Pro Max).
The latest rumors change the cards on the table and correct the course of the previous whispers, bringing clarity. The series should start with a mid-range device equipped with Snapdragon 4 Gen 4: this would be the Redmi Note 17 5G, the base version of the family.
Xiaomi has already confirmed the presence of a large 7″ diagonal display, with a 120 Hz refresh rate and high brightness, all powered by an 8,000 mAh battery with 45W charging. The durability would stop at IP65 classification, while the camera system would rely on a dual-camera setup with a 50 MP sensor.
The higher-end Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G would raise the bar compared to the smaller one in the series with the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and 9,000 mAh of battery. Charging will also undergo an upgrade, rising to 67W – already confirmed by the teasers. Also in this case there would be a dual camera, always with a 50 MP main sensor.
Xiaomi has revealed a variety of display details: it will be a 6.85″ unit with a 1.5K resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, up to 3,500 nits of brightness, and a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective panel. Speaking of durability, in this case the rating is IP69K – the highest level against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets.
Xiaomi has been quiet about it, but according to rumors in recent months there would also be a third model. No Pro+ this time, but a name change to reflect the updates from the regular series: Lei Jun’s company launched in China Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, so its offshoot should have its Redmi Note 17 Pro Max.
So far there has been talk of a Dimensity 7500 chipset and of a hefty 10.000 mAh battery; we will probably have a triple camera (with an ultra-wide and a telephoto) but as of today Xiaomi has not yet confirmed the existence of this flagship model.
The uncertainty remains about the Global versions: the current Note 15 series was launched in January this year, but the new Redmi Note 17 could arrive earlier than expected. An insider claims that the Global launch (starting from India) will occur by the end of the year, but the timing isn’t yet certain enough to have any guarantees to cling to.
There will certainly be differences in terms of design and specifications: this happened in the transition between the Chinese Redmi Note 15 series and the international one, so we can assume that the same will happen with the new generation.
