Redmi K90 Ultra with a fan and gigantic battery: a top-of-the-line Gaming Phone!

After three models released between last October and April, the flagship series from Xiaomi’s sub-brand is preparing to welcome another addition. Redmi K90 Ultra is in the air and the latest rumors speak of a device very different from what we’re used to imagining: this time the Chinese company will pivot to a high-end gaming phone, launching the gauntlet to Honor Win RT.

New details surface on Redmi K90 Ultra: increasingly a Gaming Phone, with a fan

During this generation, the devices of the K series have gone through various phases: Redmi K90 base with Snapdragon 8 Elite is a high-end device with a large battery, Bose audio and a classic look; the older brother Redmi K90 Pro Max has opted for the latest flagship Snapdragon and a more extreme approach for the audio part, adopting a rear speaker Sound by Bose.

It was then the turn of Redmi K90 Max and a new change of direction: a gaming phone with Dimensity 9500 and, for the first time on a Xiaomi, a cooling fan.

For the final device in the series, Lei Jun’s company should aim for a fusion between the standard model and the Max. According to Digital Chat Station, Redmi K90 Ultra should unite a Snapdragon chip, gaming-phone ambitions, and an extra-large battery.

As mentioned at the outset, the future Ultra seems designed to challenge Honor Win RT: according to the Chinese insider we should find the Snapdragon 8 Elite and an integrated fan, along with a battery above 8,000 mAh. Among other specifications there would be a Flat OLED 1.5K display with a 165 Hz refresh rate (like the K90 Max), stereo speakers, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, and an IP68/IP69-rated chassis.

The starting price? It seems it will be lower than that of the K90 Max, therefore under 3,499 yuan, about €435 at the current exchange rate. It would certainly be a tempting choice for users looking for an affordable gaming phone, that doesn’t compromise on a display with a high refresh rate and a high-performance cooling system.

As for the debut, Redmi K90 Ultra is expected by the end of the month or at most in July. It will certainly be launched exclusively in China, but it remains to be seen whether it will also find space here – perhaps under the POCO banner.
