While Samsung has chosen the path of silence (at least for now), rumors about the next series of foldables continue unabated. The flagship debut is expected over the summer, and the latest news look to the future clamshell model, or rather to the heart that will beat beneath the shell.
Previously there have been rumors that Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 will be distributed in two versions, with Snapdragon or Exynos, and now a new report sheds light. This is not official information but at least we have an initial answer to the question we are interested in: which of the two SoCs will be used in Italy?
The current Galaxy Z Flip 7 has marked an important turning point for the series: after several years of Snapdragon chips, the flip phone debuted with the Exynos 2500 on board. The solution developed by the Asian company has been used for all markets, without making distinctions.
Things are likely to change once more, and here the nearly imminent Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 comes into play. The memory crisis is at the root of the increase in costs for the main tech manufacturers and Samsung’s foundries have not been spared: although the Exynos 2600 is made in-house, it would come at a hefty price.
A previous report states that Qualcomm would have offered the top Snapdragon to the rival company at a favorable price: consequently, the foldable should come out in two versions based on the SoC, a workaround to contain costs.
According to yet another in-depth report, conducted by a Korean outlet, further details have emerged. Samsung would have decided to use the Exynos 2600 – freshly launched, built on a 2 nm process and already seen on board the S26 series – in European markets and at home:
So in Italy we should have the version equipped with the Asian company’s chipset. As for the regions where the phone will be distributed with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 For Galaxy, it will basically be the rest of the globe:
As noted above, according to previous rumors Qualcomm would have offered a very attractive price for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 For Galaxy.
But the new report provides a different view: anyway it is worth remembering that in both cases these are rumors. Behind Samsung’s decision to differentiate the processors of the next Galaxy Z Flip 8 would lie a precise strategy aimed at defending the company’s profit margins at a time when the costs of tech components are skyrocketing.
To avoid the foldable’s list price from rising, Samsung would have decided to drastically reduce dependence on the expensive Qualcomm Snapdragon, leaning toward the Exynos 2600.
A move that would generate a domino effect inside: avoid excessive price hikes on the final price and channel a huge volume of orders in-house, at Samsung Foundry. In this way, the factories and internal development labs, which last year had losses, can finally fill production, amortize costs and return to generating profits already in 2026.
The launch of Z Flip 8 should take place on 22 July in London, with the new book-style foldables. Galaxy Z Fold 8 s would be the new device in wide format, while Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra should be the name of the classic Fold, characterized by the usual narrow and elongated form.
