Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 in unofficial images: Samsung’s rugged return

The summer Unpacked event will not bring just news for Samsung’s foldable lineup, but there will also be room for a host of wearables (as usual). Among these is the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, the new chapter of the rugged series: once again we will be dealing with a device oriented toward durability, and now a series of leak images reveals the final design.

The images come from insider Evan Blass (evleaks): these are the supposed press renders, so it’s effectively a first look at the watch’s aesthetics.

According to rumors that have emerged in recent months, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 should represent a fairly significant evolution compared to the current model, while preserving the rugged approach that distinguishes the range.

This vision seems confirmed by the press render leak: the design appears less angular, while maintaining the squared-off style of the first Watch Ultra. The display remains an AMOLED circular unit, while the bezel around it now features indicators from 1 to 12 o’clock.

The device in the renders supports GPS and LTE connectivity and is equipped with a 47 mm case; the display is protected by sapphire glass and we find the predecessor’s 10 ATM water resistance. We will probably again have IP68 and MIL-STD-810H classifications, respectively for dust/water and for military-grade ruggedness.

Cosa sappiamo del nuovo rugged watch di Samsung

Based on what has emerged so far, the main new features would concern, first of all, battery life, with a larger battery designed to offer a noticeably longer duration, one of the aspects Samsung seems to want to focus on the most.

On the hardware front, there is also talk of adopting the new chip Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite, which should guarantee better performance and greater energy efficiency.

Certifications have also suggested the arrival of at least two variants, with an LTE version and a possible 5G connectivity configuration destined for some markets. From an aesthetic standpoint, no revolutions are expected, but only a refinement of the design with premium materials, while the software is expected to debut with a new version of One UI Watch and a redesigned interface.

The launch is expected during the Galaxy Unpacked event in July, together with the Galaxy Watch 9 series and Samsung’s new foldable smartphones.
