Samsung Galaxy Watch 2 and Watch 9: new designs and colors but no Classic

The wait for the next generation of smartwatches from Samsung is growing ever stronger, fueled by ongoing rumors that anticipate the moves of the South Korean company.

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, which according to rumors is set to take place on July 22 in London, is shaping up to be rich in new features.

Among the main attractions of the London presentation will undoubtedly be the new wearables, specifically the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

Recent information leaked online allows painting a decidedly detailed picture of what consumers can expect, highlighting new aesthetic choices and significant updates, while confirming news that will disappoint a specific slice of enthusiasts.

No Classic this year, but Galaxy Watch news will be plentiful

The latest leaks, shared on social platforms by well-known sources in the tech sector, indicate the arrival of new dials and redesigned straps to refresh the aesthetics of the range.

Regarding colors, the details emerging mention interesting pairings: a black case paired with a blue-tinted strap and a silver version matched with a green strap.

There is also mention of a refined beige variant, which, however, should remain exclusive to the base model.

At the moment, it has not been clarified which of these colors will be destined for the Watch 9 and which for the Ultra model, leaving a certain margin of uncertainty until the official reveal.

The software side will also benefit from updates, as shown by some recently circulated screenshots illustrating the new graphical interface for the compass app, the app list, and the watch face selection interface.

The device that seems to have undergone the most marked aesthetic evolution is the Ultra version. The new watch is expected to feature a case with more squared lines, borrowing some distinctive elements from the previous Watch 8 Classic.

Among these, a numbered bezel stands out, characterized by significantly reduced bezels compared to the past. It remains to be confirmed whether this component will retain the physical rotating mechanism as before.

The wearable will benefit from improved side buttons, with the quick action button enhanced by a vibrant orange outline.

Despite these clear nods to traditional design, those hoping for the debut of a new Classic variant will be left empty-handed: rumors confirm the total absence of such a model for the year.

The specs we know

Shifting focus to the internal hardware, the new devices promise significant advances in terms of autonomy and overall performance. The Ultra variant will be equipped with a spacious 784 mAh battery. The Watch 9, for its part, will integrate a 382 mAh cell.

Although energy capacity has been significantly increased compared to previous iterations, certification documents suggest that charging speed will remain unchanged.
