Leaks regarding Samsung’s upcoming premium tablets are starting to outline a precise picture, raising questions about the actual new features to come.
According to recent reports from the specialized outlet GalaxyClub, the next flagship model of the tablet line, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, may not deliver the technical edge that many enthusiasts expected, especially regarding the battery.
The technical data indicate that the device will maintain a nominal battery capacity of 11,374 mAh, translating to a typical capacity of around 11,600 mAh. This is the exact same value found on the previous model, the Tab S11 Ultra, suggesting a commitment to absolute continuity by the South Korean manufacturer.
Charging speed is also not expected to change, remaining anchored at 45 W as seen in the past.
A different strategy seems to interest the Galaxy Tab S12+, which could benefit from a battery increase, moving from the previous 10.090 mAh to 10.500 mAh, marking the first real upgrade for the Plus line since the Tab S7+.
Although the absence of a battery capacity increase may disappoint at first glance, it’s important to consider that the actual charging duration does not depend solely on the battery size. Software optimization and advances in display energy efficiency play a decisive role in daily autonomy.
To that end, rumors indicate the adoption of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, a premium-class chip manufactured with a 3 nm production process that should guarantee high performance with reduced power consumption.
As for the displays, the previous technologies are expected to be confirmed, with a 14.6-inch diagonal for the Ultra version and a 12.4-inch diagonal for the Plus variant.
The choice to keep similar specifications clashes with an increasingly fierce competition in the high-end tablet sector. On the Android front, the OnePlus Pad 3 stands as a formidable rival thanks to a 12,140 mAh battery, the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and a competitive price.
On the other hand, Apple continues to dominate the most exclusive segment with the iPad Pro lineup equipped with the M5 chip.
In this scenario, the introduction of Samsung’s new series could push many users toward a more pragmatic choice. With the arrival of the new models and the likely increase in their list prices, the previous generation, represented by the Galaxy Tab S11, could suffer a sharp price drop, becoming the most convenient and sensible purchase for those seeking an excellent device without needing to chase the small refinements of the latest hour.
