There’s still quite a bit of time before the launch of Samsung’s next-generation flagship (after all, we’re only at mid-year), and yet behind the scenes the work is in full swing.
So far we’ve dealt with rumors and light leaks, but now there’s the first tangible sign of the existence of the future Galaxy S27. The device has appeared in the database of a certification authority, and there’s no room for doubt: both the model number and the commercial name are present.
The smartphone has been certified by the GSMA with the code SM-S952U: the final letter “U” indicates a device designed for the US market, but clearly we know it will arrive worldwide. It also explicitly mentions the product’s commercial name, namely Samsung Galaxy S27.
That means work is progressing smoothly and that in the coming weeks there could be enticing previews, both for the design and for the specifications. The model number is useful for identifying the phone in other certifications as well as on major benchmarking platforms.
The fact that the first sighting came in June also indicates that Samsung is proceeding at a brisk pace. It is probably already well advanced with its new flagship lineup, but it remains to be seen whether this will also reflect in the release window.
The current Galaxy S26 series was launched at the end of February, far behind the usual timings for the family. We could hypothesize that the future S27s will arrive in January 2027, but ultimately the final word still lies with the Asian company — and its plans for now remain a mystery.
