Nothing Phone (4b) confirmed, but it might already feel dated

In recent days, Carl Pei’s company teased the launch of a new device, and now we have additional confirmation. As anticipated, it will be a new smartphone, so the company still has a card to play for this 2026.

The upcoming Nothing Phone (4b) has been unveiled, or at least the name and part of the design: it will be a mid-range device, and clearly we assume it will be positioned below the ‘a’ series. It’s not by chance there is an element that underscores this; perhaps this device could already feel old.

Nothing Phone (4b) should have a minimal and stylish design, but a single camera is visible

In the new official teasers, some sketches are shown that hint at the possible style of the smartphone. Nothing concrete, but it’s likely that we will have the same minimal and futuristic lines as the rest of the lineup.

Perhaps the brand could aim for a more industrial style, i.e., CMF for clarity, but the final look will be revealed later. What stands out is the presence of a single main sensor: Nothing Phone (4b) seems to have only one main camera.

In general it may not be a problem, but other devices with a single sensor have faced criticism. The most recent case concerns the iPhone Air, indeed, the second chapter of Cupertino’s ultra-thin line should be enriched with a dual camera (according to recent leaks).

There is clearly a big price difference between these two smartphones: Apple’s device launched from €1,239, while for the Nothing model we expect a figure below that of Phone (4a), i.e., €369.

Perhaps at an accessible price the single camera could be well accepted, even if it may seem a bit anachronistic in 2026 — or at least an indication of a particularly economical segment (aside from the Air, but Cupertino is a world apart).

This should be the only new smartphone coming to Carl Pei’s ecosystem: CMF Phone 3 Pro would have been cancelled (or postponed to 2027) due to the current crisis in the tech landscape.
