Today, June 10, numerous users around the world are experiencing significant technical issues using Google Gemini, Google’s AI-powered chatbot. Reports have rapidly increased, highlighting a spike in outages that has particularly affected the United States and the United Kingdom, but with issues also widespread across Italy.
Google subsequently officially confirmed the existence of a technical problem via its Workspace dashboard, noting that the engineering team is actively engaged in identifying and resolving the cause of the outage.
Service outages manifest mainly through the appearance of two specific messages, known as error 1076 and error 1099, which affect both the desktop version and the mobile application alike.
According to initial analyses, error 1076 is attributable to a timeout issue during the initial connection phase. Conversely, 1099 is almost certainly a server-side problem at Google and appears to occur when the system workload does not allow immediate stabilization of responses.
For users who need to continue using the tool despite the instability, there is a temporary workaround that is yielding positive results while awaiting an official fix.
This involves trying to send the same prompt again immediately after the error message appears; in some cases, the second attempt seems to succeed because the connection path has already been partially established during the first step. In our case we tried repeatedly, but did not get a happy ending.
Although Google continues to update its official stance, apologizing for the inconvenience caused, the outage is shaping up to be one of the longest recorded this year for Gemini.
