Via a post on X, Akis Evangelidis (co-founder of Nothing and CMF) has delivered a hard blow to enthusiasts awaiting one of the most interesting devices of this 2026. CMF Phone 3 Pro has been canceled but the reason is not a commercial failure, but a well-considered decision. If you’re wondering, indeed, it is tied once again to the memory crisis — one of the most challenging periods ever faced by the global tech market.
In the official statement, the executive confirmed that a successor to CMF Phone 2 Pro was indeed in development, but ultimately the stop was due to the prohibitive costs of memory.
Rising production costs would surely have impacted the final price of the device and, consequently, the brand decided not to launch a new phone this year. In short, CMF chose to prioritize value over the usual annual release cycle — something that perhaps the big tech players should learn (or remember?) as well.
However, during 2026 there will be other CMF by Nothing announcements: the post promises new products coming, including in categories entirely new for the brand.
To conclude, it announces that by the end of the year a new Nothing smartphone will be unveiled. The latest models were Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro, launched in March; the company has confirmed that there will not be a new flagship this year, so the only plausible option is Phone (4a) Lite, successor to the (3a) Lite version launched last October.
Finally, Akis Evangelidis’ revelation changes the cards on the table regarding the new Pokémon-themed teasers: at this point the plausible candidates are only the Nothing Ear (3a) TWS and CMF Buds Neo.
