20 Images with 20 Captions: Instagram Updates Carousels

The well-known social platform dedicated to photography and short videos has just introduced a highly anticipated feature for users.

From this moment, in fact, Instagram offers the possibility to insert a specific and different caption for each individual image or clip within the carousels.

Until recently, the entire group of multimedia content published in a single post had to share a single descriptive text block. This structural limitation often made it difficult to articulate a coherent narrative that accompanied the audience as they scrolled through the various slides.

Thanks to this implementation, content creators finally have an additional tool to contextualize each individual fragment shared in a precise and timely manner.

Using this option is particularly simple and immediate. By tapping the area designated for text entry, the interface shows a convenient toggle that allows you to choose the preferred writing mode.

The final decision remains entirely at the author’s discretion: you can continue with the classic, unambiguous description for practicality, or you can choose to invest more effort in drafting separate messages for each visual element.

This update follows a particularly significant previous update, through which the company had doubled the capacity of a carousel, increasing from the historical limit of 10 to a maximum of 20 photos or videos.

The opportunity to pair up to 20 images with as many independent texts provides substantial potential to craft original formats and extremely in-depth narratives.

When will the new feature arrive?

The update is currently being rolled out. As usual for these large-scale implementations, it may take about seven days for the feature to be active on all accounts globally.

The application is undergoing a period of intense structural and technical changes that touch several areas. On the image capture side, the built-in camera recently introduced support for the Ultra HDR standard and for the Night Sight mode on devices running the Android operating system, markedly improving the quality of shots in low-light conditions.

Additionally, the platform has integrated further profile management tools for followers: today it is possible to more directly steer the recommendations proposed by the internal algorithm and, above all, to organize the arrangement of posts in a personalized way within your own grid.
