In recent days, Lei Jun’s company announced the brand-new Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro, an enhanced version of the current fitness tracker. The device arrives with some additional features but, above all, the usual change of look — moving from capsule-style to a form more similar to a traditional smartwatch.
But what happened to Xiaomi Smart Band 11? Will it arrive during the year or will we have to wait? The answers to these questions are not obvious, but luckily there is good news, thanks to a certification.
Recently a new Xiaomi wearable has appeared in the databases of the Global NCC and IMDA agencies (Taiwan and Singapore respectively). The accessory bears the code M2561B1 and is simply classified as “smart band”, without the commercial name.
However, thanks to a bit of experience with the manufacturer’s model numbers, it was possible to infer the device’s identity. The codes M2551B1 and M2553B1 refer to the current Smart Band 10 Pro, in standard and NFC versions.
Consequently it is almost certain that the certified wearable belongs to the Xiaomi Smart Band 11 family; some suggest that it is the entry-level Active model (present in the 9-series but not in the current one), but there are no confirmations.
Anyway there is another “certainty”, if we may call it that: the certifications indicate that the launch is near, therefore we could be aiming at June (the same month as the release of Smart Band 10) or sometime during the summer.
