Not only flagship devices for leaks: the latest rumors point to vivo’s upcoming mid-range in China, a device that also interests us Westerners given its history. vivo S60 is expected in Global version as vivo V80: the new model aims to redefine the series’ aesthetics through a design choice for the camera module, which looks toward Cupertino’s Air rival.
Based on the updates reported by the Chinese insider Digital Chat Station, vivo S60 will change its look with a horizontal camera module, a design we have learned to associate with iPhone Air but that has already found space on various Chinese models. According to leaks, the phone includes a central metal chassis and dust- and water-resistance rated IP68 or IP69.
The 6.59″ display with 1.5K resolution would house an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, while on the performance front there would be a chipset from the Snapdragon 8s series. The source indicates the presence of a battery of around 7,000 mAh, paired with 90W fast charging.
The camera system would offer a Sony IMX8-series periscope telephoto lens, ideal for capturing distant details with professional-quality. Furthermore, support for magnetic accessories via dedicated cases suggests the expansion of an ecosystem of add-on modules, such as a telephoto extender.
The device could be accompanied by the vivo S60 Pro Mini, as tradition. Based on what has happened so far, the Chinese S60 model should land here as vivo V80, while the already mentioned Pro Mini would serve as the base for the future vivo X500 FE.
