Listening to Spotify will no longer be the same; the AI DJ arrives in Italy as well

The listening experience on the renowned Swedish streaming platform Spotify is enriched with a significant new feature for users in our country.

After a long period of experimentation started in 2023, the DJ feature based on generative artificial intelligence from OpenAI makes its official debut in Italy, as well as in other countries such as Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Portugal, South Korea and Switzerland.

With this significant expansion, the service reaches over 75 markets globally, confirming steady growth that had already reached the 50-country milestone by August 2023.

To date, this version has allowed as many as 94 million Premium subscribers to customize their musical sessions in a completely unprecedented way, blending technology with the pure passion for music.

At first glance, the feature could appear as a simple on-the-fly playlist generator, a tool that the application’s traditional systems were already able to handle entirely autonomously. The real difference lies in the integration of advanced voice synthesis, capable of providing spoken context between one track and the other, emulating, in every sense, the role of a radio announcer.

The system thoroughly analyzes your listening history to create a selection that alternates between the top hits of the moment, the classics that hadn’t been heard for years, and the new releases deemed in line with the user’s tastes.

The control remains always in the hands of the listener: it is possible to request the platform to generate a virtual station based on a specific artist, a musical genre, an ongoing activity, or a mood. The system is able to quickly switch from a relaxed atmosphere for a romantic date to the energy needed to bring a party to life.

L’arrivo di Alex e delle altre voci locali

To ensure an interaction that feels natural and suitable for different cultural sensibilities, the company has worked closely with its regional teams to develop distinct and unique vocal personalities. In addition to options in French, German and Brazilian Portuguese, Italian users will be accompanied by Alex.

This entry has been specifically designed to feel warm and firmly rooted in reality, intended to bridge the gap between the mere technical knowledge of the tracks and the real emotion that the music evokes in those who listen.

Together with him, Maïfa debuts for France, described as a friend with excellent musical tastes, Ben for Germany, characterized by a warm and present tone, and Dani for Brazil, with an eclectic personality and always one step ahead of the latest trends.

Come accedere alle nuove funzioni

All subscribers to the Premium version can already try out this new feature on their own devices. Access is very simple: just open the app and search for the dedicated tile directly on the home page, or type the specific term into the search bar.

Once the personalized session has started, the user can let the system proceed autonomously or interact through text and voice commands to continually refine the music recommendations.

Through the settings menu, accessible by clicking on the three dots inside the dedicated screen, it is also possible to freely change the speaker’s language by choosing among the various options available.

The project is currently in a beta phase, demonstrating that further updates will be released to refine interactions and constantly enrich the listening dynamics.

Make sure you have the latest version of the application — it’s the only technical requirement to start exploring this novelty.
