The foldable smartphone sector continues to evolve, with leading tech companies continually focused on perfecting the build details of their devices.
During this year’s Mobile World Congress, Samsung Display revealed a flexible OLED panel characterized by the almost total absence of the classic central crease.
This technology is now at the center of rumors regarding the company’s future models, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its alleged higher-end variant, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.
The most recent information, shared by the well-known and reliable informant Ice Universe, suggests that crease management on Samsung’s upcoming devices will reach levels of absolute excellence, matching the results recently achieved by rivals.
In particular, the main benchmark is the OPPO Find N6, launched a few months ago and widely praised for the nearly invisible crease when the screen is open.
The Chinese company has managed to reach this important milestone by leveraging an advanced process of high-resolution 3D printing, useful for precisely filling the irregular gaps in the folding mechanism behind the panel. According to sources, the new South Korean foldables will offer an equally uniform experience.
An interesting detail concerns the handling of exclusive technologies: recent reports indicate that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series will not include the Privacy Display, an advanced feature that debuted earlier this year with the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The differences between the two versions of the foldable device will focus heavily on ergonomics and battery life. The base model, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, will adopt a much wider form factor than all previous devices in the lineup, will house only two rear cameras and will be powered by a 4,800 mAh battery.
On the contrary, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will position itself as the true spiritual successor of the current Galaxy Z Fold 7. This device will maintain a more traditional design and will boast a larger battery of 5,000 mAh.
The brand’s strategies thus seem directed toward a clear diversification of the offering, guaranteeing on one hand an unprecedented format and on the other a more classic setup, yet united by a display finally able to hide almost any mechanical imperfection.
