Surprisingly, Motorola has launched Moto Tag 2 in several European countries, Italy included. It is the brand’s new smart locator, designed to integrate into the Android ecosystem: the device arrives about two years after the first installment and introduces new Pantone colorways and connectivity improvements. Here are all the details, along with the price in our region.
The size of Moto Tag 2 does not depart from that of the first Moto Tag: the company continues to follow a minimalist approach but enriches the design with two elegant Pantone colorways (Laurel Oak and Arabesque). The device uses Google’s Find Hub network to locate objects safely; it supports the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for precise localization and the Bluetooth 6.0 with Channel Sounding to improve the search for nearby objects.
The shell is IP68-rated, meaning it is dust resistant and immersion in freshwater (up to 1,5 meters for 30 minutes). Regarding battery life, the gadget uses a replaceable coin cell CR2032, for use of over 600 days.
Moto Tag 2 presents compact and lightweight dimensions (31,9 x 31,9 x 8 mm, 8,5 grammi) and is made of plastic. Completing the package is a built-in speaker capable of emitting a sound up to 77 dB to help locate it.
Just like the first model, the tag can be used to locate the connected smartphone: simply press the dedicated button to ring the phone. The same button also serves as a remote shutter for the smartphone’s camera.
Finally, it supports end-to-end encryption and sends alerts in case of detection of unknown trackers that move with the user.
The new Moto Tag 2 is already available for purchase in Italy, through Motorola’s official store and on Amazon, at the price of €39.9. There is also the convenient 4-piece pack, selling for €139.9.
