The most prolific smartphone leaker of all time is leaving — it’s the end of an era

Evan Blass, one of the most authoritative and followed figures in the mobile technology sector, has announced his intention to distance himself from the world of leaks.

In a long and candid message published on the platform X, the leaker clarified that this will most likely his final post on the social network.

Evan Blass, @evleaks, leaves the world of smartphone leaks

It's not the first time Evan Blass has talked about retiring.

His activity, started in 2009 and consolidated with the opening of the famous account in 2012, anticipated the plans of the biggest technology companies for fifteen years. Now, on the threshold of fifty, Blass has decided to close this long chapter to focus on more concrete and urgent aspects of his daily life, abandoning a pastime that he once found stimulating.

The choice to stop disseminating images and technical specifications of future smartphones does not stem from a lack of interest in the industry, but from extremely pressing personal needs. Blass openly revealed that he lives with a chronic condition and must face serious financial difficulties.

In his statement, he plainly explained how dedicating countless hours to improving the resolution of thousands of mobile wallpapers has become a counterproductive distraction, especially when there are insufficient financial resources to buy essential medications or even to pay the transport needed to pick them up.

The pursuit of stability and a steady income has become his absolute priority. To safeguard his emotional and physical well-being, the author has understood that he must necessarily set aside the obsessive maintenance of the reputation he had painstakingly built online.

Devices revealed in advance

For anyone who has followed presentations of new mobile devices in recent years, Evan Blass's work has been a constant presence, even for those who ignored the direct provenance of those precious materials. His previews have shaped the audience's anticipation well ahead of the official announcements from the manufacturers.

Among the numerous successes that have dotted his career, the standout includes the very first images of the flagship models in the Samsung Galaxy line, the look of foldable devices Motorola Razr and the aesthetic peculiarities of the Google Pixel series.

These have included extraordinary scoops that left a deep mark on the specialist press, such as when he managed to reveal in advance the details of the iPhone X, previewing the novel shapes and the features of Apple's celebrated smartphone.

These leaks have constantly disrupted the secrecy plans of the tech giants, yet guaranteeing readers a privileged look at future products on the market.

The future away from media hype

Although his historic profile on the X platform is set to fade, Blass has confirmed that his digital presence will not disappear entirely.

The leaker will keep his Instagram channel active, indicating the photo-sharing social network as the new space where he will pursue his interests, leaving also references to his online accounts for potential donations from supporters who appreciated his work over this decade and more.

However, it remains uncertain whether this transition will entail a slim continuation of his research work or whether it will seal the definitive stop to publications of confidential material.

In any case, the certainty remains that the chronicle of smartphones loses its most prolific and constant source of information, closing an undeniably rich cycle of great discoveries.
