As the 20th anniversary of the Apple-branded smartphone approaches, expectations among enthusiasts and industry insiders have been raised.
In recent days, rumors regarding upcoming models have intensified, outlining an iPhone that promises to wow, but that also raises not a few questions.
A recent report suggested that the Cupertino company is working to bring to fruition a smartphone built as a single continuous sheet of glass, while still having to contend with current manufacturing limits.
In this regard, the well-known informant Ice Universe has speculated on using a relatively thin curvature along the edges, paired with a clever optical illusion, to simulate a total wraparound of the screen.
Further financial notes also indicate that the commemorative edition will not materialize as a standalone product, as happened in the past with the iPhone X, but rather as a design integrated directly into the future iPhone 20’s Pro and Pro Max variants.
To further fuel the previews, Instant Digital, a source that in the past has demonstrated a certain reliability on Apple’s moves, has recently weighed in.
However, its latest input calls for a decidedly cautious approach. The technical features described for the twentieth-anniversary model resemble more of a wish list rather than truly leaked information from design labs.
Among the listed novelties, there is the implementation of solid-state keys with haptic feedback, ready to replace the traditional physical side buttons. The device’s front should also host a lot of completely invisible technology: Face ID, the front camera and even the speaker would be placed under the display panel, leaving the front surface totally immaculate.
To shield this newly conceived display there would be a ultra-scratch-resistant glass, designed to guarantee unprecedented durability.
On the energy front, rumors point decisively high. There is talk of integrating a 6000 mAh battery, a capacity that would guarantee prolonged use well above today’s standards to which users are accustomed.
To this ample energy reserve would be added support for reverse wireless charging, allowing the smartphone to power other compatible accessories simply by placing them on the back.
Despite the undeniable allure of these specifications, it is evident that these are technologies long awaited and already widely described in patents filed by Apple a long time ago.
Much of these features had previously been associated with earlier models without ever finding real application in the market. The enthusiastic tone used to present these supposed novelties implicitly invites readers to reassess expectations.
Although the Californian leadership would surely welcome the possibility of condensing such an innovation concentration into its forthcoming celebratory edition, it is highly likely that many of these rumors will prove to be mere fan hopes, still far from real mass production.
