Larger and longer displays: how the iPhone 18 Pro line will change

For months there have been rumors and leaks—more or less credible—about Apple’s next-generation flagship. Periodically new clues emerge and the picture is now fairly clear; however there are moments of turning points, with additions that could change the game.

This time the news comes from a well-known insider, who published an image showing the protective films of the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. It is impossible not to notice a slightly elongated design, which seems to anticipate a change in display sizes.

iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max could have larger displays: revealed by protective films

So far we discussed panels (and sizes) identical to those of the iPhone 17 Pro, therefore 6.3″ and 6.9″ diagonals. The only updated element of the front should be the space for the Dynamic Island, resized thanks to some Face ID components integrated under the panel. No revolution in 3D unlocking, with a completely clean display, but a smaller pill.

The leaked image that appeared in recent hours tells a slightly different story, with displays that appear slightly narrower and elongated — still with a reduction of the Dynamic Island by about 25/30%. The two top-of-the-range models should offer 6.4″ and as much as 7″ diagonals, respectively for iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max.

It would be a minimal increase but one that seems to give a new touch to the overall aesthetics. As for the other updates, the expected one will be the Apple A20 Pro chipset manufactured at 2 nm; regarding cameras, there are rumors of the introduction of the variable aperture for the main sensor. To not miss anything, the battery should reach 5,100–5,200 mAh, a step forward compared to the current 4,252/5,088 mAh of the 17 Pro and Pro Max.
