After the surprise debut in China, the new Honor Watch X5i makes its appearance also in Italy: it is a smartwatch that aims to conquer the budget market through a concrete and accessible approach. The device has been designed for a specific audience seeking a polished aesthetic, similar to premium-tier products (with a nod to Cupertino), without the need for advanced specifications.
From a design perspective, the wearable adopts a rectangular shape with curved edges that closely resembles the Apple Watch aesthetic, offering a modern look despite the construction in light plastic. The display is a 1.97-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 450 x 390 pixels and a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Durability is guaranteed by the IP68 certification, which protects the device from dust and water, making it suitable for daily use although it is not specifically intended for professional swimming.
On the software side, the watch runs a lightweight operating system (RTOS), sacrificing a wide app store in favor of impressive battery life. Honor states that the battery life can reach three weeks on a single charge under typical usage, a figure that drops to about six days if you keep the Always-On display active.
Despite its budget nature, the X5i includes useful features such as support for bidirectional Bluetooth calls; thanks to the built-in microphone and speaker, you can answer or place calls directly from the wrist when the device is connected to the smartphone.
On the wellness and sports front, the smartwatch covers all the essential needs for daily tracking. It includes sensors for heart rate detection, blood oxygen level (SpO2), stress and sleep quality, as well as a dedicated function for monitoring the menstrual cycle.
For athletes, the software offers as many as 109 workout modes. The versatility of the wearable is further confirmed by its universal compatibility, being able to interface with both Android and iOS devices.
Honor Watch X5i represents a highly balanced choice, with a stylish design and long-lasting battery life. The wearable was launched in China in April but is now available in the official Italian store, at the price of €69.9.
