Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max now work with Apple Watch

The Xiaomi 18 Pro series becomes compatible with Apple Watch. It’s a feature designed for those who live between the two worlds, perhaps with a Xiaomi smartphone in their pocket and Apple’s smartwatch on their wrist, and who until now had to give up on enabling communication between the two devices.

Xiaomi 18 Pro and Apple Watch: what you can do

The announcement came from Lu Weibing, president of Xiaomi Group and head of the smartphone division, during the unveiling of the new products, but the novelty is now actually available.

Lei Jun’s company released the Xiaomi Connect app on the Apple Watch App Store: this is an application that allows pairing Cupertino watches with Xiaomi devices equipped with HyperOS 4.0.1 or later.

Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max can now connect to Apple Watch, which shows the incoming calls and the phone notifications. Also fitness and health data are synchronized between phone and watch. It has not yet been clarified which Apple Watch models and which versions of watchOS are supported, nor whether it is possible to answer notifications directly from the wrist.

Another piece in the dialogue with the Apple ecosystem

The compatibility with Apple Watch adds to the features Xiaomi has already built around iPhone, iPad and Mac with its HyperConnect ecosystem. With iPhone it is already possible to share photos, videos and files by bringing the devices closer, unlock them from one another, share messages and synchronize the photo album in the cloud, while with HyperOS 3 and the version 2.1.0 of Xiaomi Connect Service the iPhone notifications also arrive on Xiaomi smartphones.

Recall that the first Android smartphone to announce compatibility with Apple Watch was the vivo X Fold 5, but now the list also includes Xiaomi’s very latest flagships.
