As the Redmi K90 Max launch event approaches (perhaps it will be our Xiaomi 17T Pro), the Chinese company has begun to lift the veil on new ecosystem products. Along with Redmi Pad 2 SE the Redmi Buds 8 earbuds were announced, the affordable version of the Pro model launched some time ago. Once again we are dealing with a small concentrate of technology, at a particularly tempting price (but for now launched only in China).
The design of the Redmi Buds 8 standard mirrors that of its bigger brother Pro, with a pebble-shaped case with a simple look and a pair of earbuds with a stem and in-ear fit. Available in black, white and green, the TWS weigh about 5 grams and feature 11 mm dynamic drivers.
Now ANC has been adopted in almost every price range and this model is no exception: the earbuds are equipped with active noise cancellation of an average of 24.9 dB, but with the ability to reach peaks of 50 dB and a frequency coverage up to 4 kHz. As usual there are several levels of noise cancellation, including an automatic mode (which changes based on the surrounding environment).
For call audio there are three microphones in combination with the proprietary AI algorithm dedicated to noise reduction. There is also the ability to adjust and customize the sound via an equalizer, while on the battery life side, the earbuds offer up to 11 hours of playback without active noise cancellation and up to 6 hours with ANC active.
Using the case as well, the TWS can easily reach a total of 44 hours, or 28 hours in total with noise cancellation active. The battery is a 475 mAh unit while charging occurs via a USB-C port; the front shows a LED light indicating the device status.
To complete it all we have support for LHDC, SBC and AAC codecs, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and a body rated IP54 – to better resist dust and water splashes or sweat.
The new Redmi Buds 8 earbuds debuted in China at the price of only 229 yuan, about €28 at the current exchange rate. Although they are limited to the Asian market, a future release in Italy seems very likely since the entire TWS range has already arrived here ( Buds 8 Active, Buds 8 Lite and Buds 8 Pro).
