The Xiaomi budget phone lineup grows with a new Global addition, which makes this segment even more layered and confusing. POCO M8s 5G has been launched in some international markets with a design and specifications that feel familiar. Here is everything you need to know about the new budget phone from the Chinese brand, with an immersive display and a big battery.
The aesthetics of the new POCO are unusually simple and essential, not at all typical of the brand. Usually its devices always feature a distinctive characteristic or even an unusual color (like the classic POCO yellow). And instead the latest budget phone presents an essential look with a rectangular camera module and two classic shades – black and white.
The front is occupied by a 6.9″ LCD display, a generous size that makes it suitable for multimedia content (also thanks to the adaptive refresh rate up to 144 Hz). Under the hood we find an extra-large 7,000 mAh battery — silicon-carbon, to avoid impacting the thickness — with 33W charging. There is also 18W reverse charging, useful to use the budget phone as a power bank.
POCO M8s 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 and also features support for Google Gemini and for “Circle and Search”. The photography experience is entrusted to a 50 MP main sensor while the onboard software is HyperOS 2.
Regarding price, Xiaomi announced that the smartphone will be on sale at $189 (for the 6/128 GB version) and $219 (8/256 GB). Note that the POCO device is a rebrand of Redmi 15 5G, launched also in Italy.
