Xiaomi in the Top 3 of the smartwatch market: here’s the secret behind its success

The global smartwatch market has regained momentum in the first quarter of 2026, marking a 4% growth compared with the previous year. In this recovery scenario, Xiaomi has emerged as one of the leading players, managing to seize the third position worldwide among wearable device manufacturers.

This result is not by chance, but due to a targeted strategy that allowed the company to reach a 10% market share with a 9% year-on-year increase in shipments. In second place we find rival Huawei, while at the top is the ubiquitous Apple.

The sector is moving away from the slowdown recorded in 2024: already in 2025 there was a rebound, and now things have improved further. Xiaomi’s success sits within a favorable context for the Chinese market, which registered a 15% expansion thanks also to government subsidies and a strong preference for local brands.

However, the strength of the brand lies in its unique ability to combine good hardware features with a competitive price. Users no longer look for simple accessories, but for true health monitoring tools that offer an accessible entry point to premium wearable platforms.

Xiaomi has learned to respond to this demand, making its offer extremely aggressive toward both high-end rivals and those focused exclusively on the economical side.

A fundamental feature of its success is integration into the brand’s ecosystem. Xiaomi smartwatches have become an essential component of the HyperOS and HyperConnect vision, where phones, tablets, watches and devices for the smart home collaborate smoothly and seamlessly.

This means that the company no longer competes solely in the segment of individual products, but is building a connected environment that fosters user loyalty through everyday ease of use.

Looking ahead to the coming months, despite possible fluctuations in memory prices or macroeconomic factors that could influence the sector, the outlook remains solid with a steady growth forecast up to 2030.

For Xiaomi, global third place is not a milestone, but an affirmation: Lei Jun’s company has managed to transform from smartphone manufacturer to one of the protagonists of consumer electronics.
