Chinese technology companies are now renowned not only for their hardware innovations, but also for the deep connection with local culture and traditions. Among these, the tetraphobia plays a crucial role in marketing and product naming strategies.
This is the main reason why the next vivo-branded flagship smartphone family will avoid the number four. After consolidating its success with the appreciated Vivo X300 line, the company will make a direct leap by adopting the name vivo X500 Series.
Not only that, first leaks regarding the display specifications of the upcoming devices have surfaced online.
Although there are still several months to go until the official unveiling, the first details are starting to emerge thanks to the activity of well-known figures in the field of tech leaks. Directly from China, the prolific informant Digital Chat Station has shared specific details on what we can expect regarding the performance and dimensions of the upcoming displays.
Based on the shared information, the Asian company is working on different diagonals to cover the diverse needs of users, while in any case maintaining a strictly flat panel format.
The first device, which with high probability corresponds to the base model vivo X500, will feature an LTPO OLED display of 6.37″ characterized by a 1.5K resolution. This choice seems aimed at those seeking a smartphone with slightly more compact proportions, without compromising on the variable refresh rate technology and energy efficiency.
Alongside this version, we will find a device with decidedly larger dimensions. The one that logically we can identify as the future vivo X500 Pro will be equipped with a display LTPO OLED of a substantial 6.83″. In this case, beyond the larger surface, the company will offer an increase in detail guaranteeing a 2K resolution.
The revelations do not stop at the two main smartphones. There has actually been talk of a third option, an intermediate panel that sits exactly halfway between the two variants just described.
This screen would measure 6.59″ and would use LTPS OLED technology, stopping also at a 1.5K resolution. However, the status of this device remains pending: the company’s leadership still has to decide whether to proceed with mass production and its actual commercial launch.
The identity of this intermediate model remains wrapped in mystery. The most credible hypotheses suggest that it could be an an “FE” edition dedicated to a broader audience, or that vivo is considering a reshaping of the entire nomenclature of the range.
If the 6.59-inch device were to be named the Pro variant, the larger 6.83-inch sibling could consequently adopt the designation Pro Max or Ultra.
Timings are still too early to have absolute certainties about the definitive commercial strategies and official names, but we will keep you updated as soon as new and decisive details about the company’s moves emerge.
