vivo X Fold 6 will be Camera Phone and Battery Phone together, in a foldable format

The summer months will see the return of vivo’s new folding flagship: although the debut is still a little ways off, there are already some interesting leaks. By now the trend of Camera Phone and Battery Phone together is established: it no longer concerns only traditional smartphones, but also embraces the folding sector, and vivo X Fold 6 will not be an exception.

In March we witnessed the debut of OPPO Find N6, a device characterized by a camera setup with all the bells and whistles. The foldable offers a triple-camera array of 200 + 50 + 50 MP with an ultrawide and a periscopic telephoto lens. Despite its Camera Phone ambitions, the device packs a solid 6,000 mAh battery.

Honor Magic V6 pushes further, with a 7,150 mAh capacity in China and 6,660 mAh in the Global version. Needless to say that even in this case we have top-tier cameras that can hold their own against the Honor Magic 8 Pro.

These data show that flagship cameras can now peacefully coexist with extra-large batteries, without sacrificing a slim chassis: this applies to both the flagship and the foldable. As for the next vivo X Fold 6, the upcoming foldable will follow in the footsteps of rivals, offering superior photographic performance and a larger battery.

Earlier there were rumors of a new 200 MP main sensor: the insider Digital Chat Station reveals that it will be a slightly larger solution (from 1/1.4″) compared to that on board vivo X Fold 5 (from 1/1.56″). This could impact the size of the camera module but it’s not known whether there will be a design change.

The rest of the specs are uncertain but there are plausible hypotheses: instead of the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 we should have the recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a SoC aimed at the mid-to-high-end segment. It is also likely that the cameras will again be equipped with Zeiss optics. To conclude, the leaker mentions some accessories but without details: it isn’t to be ruled out that vivo might have in mind a dedicated photography kit for the foldable (perhaps with a 200 mm teleconverter).
