Honor Robot Phone was at the World Cup final and nobody noticed

Honor has decided to revolutionize the world of mobile photography with a decidedly out-of-the-box idea. The new Robot Phone introduces, in fact, an integrated robotic gimbal, a solution designed to offer advanced mechanical stabilization without resorting to external accessories.

The device has been spotted on several occasions and the latest public appearance may have gone a bit under the radar. The smartphone made a cameo during the final of the FIFA World Cup 2026, where it appeared in the hands of the Spanish footballer Eric García, fueling anticipation for the official debut planned in the coming weeks.

After the match and during the celebrations on the field, the footballer was captured while using Honor Robot Phone for filming. At the time of writing, the Chinese company has not yet confirmed any initiative and it is not known whether García will be a product ambassador.

One thing is certain: this is indeed the Robot Phone, as the phone’s distinctive element—the integrated titanium gimbal in the upper part—is clearly visible.

When the camera is not in use, the module remains completely hidden inside the chassis. Once you open the Camera app, however, the system automatically activates, offering dedicated mechanical stabilization.

The gimbal supports 360-degree intelligent tracking and is certified CIPA 5.5, with the aim of delivering much steadier footage during video and moving content.

Flagship cameras with ARRI support

The smartphone is expected to feature a camera system consisting of a 200 MP main sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, accompanied by a 50 MP ultra-wide and a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens.

What makes the device even more interesting is the collaboration with ARRI, a company specialized in cinematic technologies. Thanks to this partnership, Robot Phone supports recording in the Log-C format and professional color profiles LUT, tools designed to offer greater flexibility in video post-production.

Launch expected in August

Under the hood there would be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. To complete the technical spec sheet we should have a flat display of around 6.3″ or 6.4″ diagonal (with 1.5K resolution) and support for 120W fast charging, while the battery would reach 6,000 mAh capacity.

Honor has already opened pre-orders for Robot Phone in China, while the official launch is planned during the month of August. It remains to be seen which markets will be interested, so we await news of a possible release in Italy.
