Unitree R1 will be the first affordable humanoid robot on AliExpress

Unitree Robotics is set to globally launch its most affordable humanoid robot starting next week. The peculiarity of this debut lies entirely in the chosen sales channel, as the company has decided to bring its Unitree R1 directly to e-commerce platforms like AliExpress, moving away from traditional business-to-business oriented sales models. This is a choice that marks a shift in the industry toward a much more accessible commercial approach.

The initial launch of Unitree R1 will cover strategic markets such as Europe, North America, Japan, and Singapore. To facilitate global diffusion, the company has joined Alibaba’s Brand+ channel, guaranteeing future buyers significant logistical benefits such as free shipping, easy returns, and greater product visibility.

Although the price for the international market has not yet been officially confirmed, the R1 was introduced in China in 2025 at a cost of around $4,370, a figure extremely competitive compared to industry-wide costs.

The economic advantage stems from a supply chain almost entirely localized in China, where more than 80% of the components are produced. This enables reducing costs compared to similar machines that can exceed $300,000.

Technically and functionally, the robot stands at 123 cm tall and weighs over 27 kg, with a frame designed specifically for dynamic movement. Unlike many humanoids designed for industrial tasks, the R1 has been marketed with the slogan “Born for sport”, highlighting its agility and motor execution capability.

The robot is indeed capable of performing acrobatic feats such as wheel-based moves, downhill running, executing complex routines, and autonomously getting back to its feet from the ground. These features make it an ideal tool not only for businesses, but also for consumer users, developers, and educators who want to experiment with advanced robotics.

Unitree’s strategy is already delivering impressive results worldwide: in 2025 the company shipped over 5,500 humanoid robots, vastly surpassing direct competitors such as Tesla, Figure AI or Agility Robotics, which stopped at around 150 units each. For 2026, the declared objective is even more ambitious and aims to reach shipments between 10,000 and 20,000 units.

Expanding its online sales model, Unitree aims to further grow its user base: up to last year it was composed of 70% universities and research institutes, but with the arrival of R1 on AliExpress things could change radically. Finally, note that Unitree is already active on the famous shopping platform, but at the moment only the humanoid G1 is available at 20.033€ and the quadruped Go 2 (at 4.318€).
