The Chinese manufacturer has now shifted toward high-performance batteries, thanks to silicon-carbon technology. In just a few months, devices with stellar capacities have debuted, reaching a whopping 10,000 mAh — for now only in China).
However, it seems this will indeed be the company’s future: phones with colossal batteries, as also suggested by the first rumors about the upcoming Honor X80. If this name doesn’t ring a bell, we’ll help: it could be the ‘base’ for our Honor Magic 9 Lite.
The first details of the Chinese original come from the usual Digital Chat Station: according to the insider, Honor X80 will have an OLED 1.5K 6.81″ display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, but the screen wouldn’t be the only extra-large feature. The leaker also mentions a gigantic 10,000 mAh battery: after the Win model experiment, it seems the manufacturer will do the same on a mid-range.
The phone would be powered by a chipset from the Snapdragon 6 series in line with the current X70 and the Western cousin Honor Magic 8 Lite (both equipped with Snapdragon 6 Gen 4).
Probably the next X80 will arrive in China around mid-year, then make its way here as the Honor Magic 9 Lite. This is a plausible hypothesis: our Magic 8 Lite is based on the X70, although compared to it it offers smaller battery and charging, the removal of wireless charging and a different camera (108 MP instead of 50 MP).
Speaking of new smartphones and giant batteries, recently the first details on Honor 600 also emerged: in this case too, an extra-large unit is planned.
As early as the start of January, the insider Digital Chat Station spoke of the upcoming flagship series: the launch is expected around October (so it’s still a long way off) but three models are expected instead of the usual pair.
Honor Magic 9 and 9 Pro would offer displays measuring 6.36″ and 6.85″ diagonally, while there would also be the supposed Magic 9 Pro Max. However it’s not clear what the differences will be between the Pro and Pro Max variants; for now it’s just rumors, so it’s wise to approach with caution.
We expect the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (still unreleased), but for now there are no other technical details.
