Huawei previews MWC: February event with Mate 80 Pro, tablet and new wearables

MWC 2026 is just around the corner, the Barcelona tech fair at which the Chinese tech giant will also be present. Nevertheless, Huawei has decided to move ahead of schedule, holding a launch event this month on a Spanish stage: the appointment is set for the 26 February in Madrid with many novelties including smartphones, wearables and tablets.

Huawei’s official announcement not only confirms the event date but also reveals all the novelties that will be on display on Madrid’s stage. During the February 26 presentation – with the MWC held from March 2 to 5 – various products will be announced, including Huawei’s new flagship.

Regarding wearables, the company has confirmed the presence of Huawei Watch GT Runner 2, successor to the model launched in 2021. It is a sport smartwatch created in collaboration with marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge and his team of runners. The focus will clearly be on running, with particular attention to positioning accuracy and new advanced features.

The presence of Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 is confirmed, probably for markets where it is not yet available — or perhaps a new variant will be announced. On the earbud side, the new Huawei FreeBuds 5 Pro will arrive, launched in China last November.

Finally, the wearables overview closes with Huawei Band 11: there are no details but the press release refers to a line, so it is likely there will be at least two versions.

The event will feature the global launch of Huawei Mate 80 Pro, unveiled in November in China. Only this model is mentioned, compared to the 4 devices announced domestically. The flagship is equipped with the new Dual Space Rings design, which takes the series aesthetics to the next level.

To conclude, a novelty for those seeking a rival to the iPad Mini: the company has confirmed there will also be Huawei MatePad Mini, a compact tablet announced in the Chinese market last September.
