In recent hours we witnessed the launch of Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design, the new luxury special edition of the flagship. The device features a sporty look that recalls the world of supercars: beautiful and elegant, in reality it could be the last phone born from the collaboration between the two brands.
One of Honor’s engineers ‘reveals’ it in a post on Weibo, hinting that the flagship could mark the end of the partnership.
Chen Ligeng, an engineer responsible for developing Honor devices, posted an unusual message on Weibo: the new Magic 8 RSR has been described as the final pinnacle of the Porsche Design line, hinting at a possible end for the ultra-premium range.
Strangely, the post has been deleted from the profile, so there is currently no certainty. Did the poor engineer mess up badly by predicting the future of the Honor and Porsche Design partnership? Or was it an innocent way of saying, removed to avoid confusion?
For now, all is quiet and there has been no statement from either brand. The collaboration between the Chinese house and the lifestyle brand began in 2023 following the end of Huawei and Porsche Design’s relationship. From the ashes of this, the partnership with Honor was born and has continued to this day.
The luxury line began with the foldable Magic V2 RSR and continued with the main Magic series smartphones. Still, it’s wise to take everything with caution, at least until an official clarification is issued by one of the two companies.
