It has been months since rumors have circulated about the existence of a foldable in wide format branded Honor: the Chinese company is reportedly working on this new smartphone, and the project currently appears to have reached its final stage. Early details about the specifications are also leaking, and it seems the brand hasn’t skimped on components.
Honor will launch a wide-foldable device and is now in the final phase of the project
Wide foldable devices seem destined to conquer the market, at least on paper. The first experiment is represented by Huawei Pura X Max, a smartphone that abandons the traditional fold design (narrow and elongated) in favor of 4:3 aspect ratio displays.
The final result is a phone the size of a passport and, when opened, it feels like facing a compact tablet. Apple is also preparing its wide foldable (iPhone Ultra), due in September; Samsung, on the other hand, would have decided to overhaul its usual summer lineup by introducing a Z Fold 8 in wide format.
Back to Honor, in the past months the first details emerged: a wide-foldable smartphone driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and equipped with displays around 7.6″ (inside) and 5.5″ (outside). Based on the latest leaks, the company would have already finalized development: the device would be in the final refinement phase.
Meanwhile, other technical details have emerged: although Honor is venturing into a new category, in this case we should also be facing a Camera Phone. The leaks speak of a 200 MP main sensor, accompanied by a periscopic telephoto (and probably also by a third ultra-wide sensor).
Despite the compact dimensions, the wide foldable would be powered by a sizable 7,000 mAh battery — certainly with silicon-carbon technology.
As for the release, there are no confirmations yet. It is likely that the new phone will launch directly in 2027, but the fact that it is already in the final stage of development could also indicate a launch closer.
