Gallium nitride (GaN) technology has radically transformed the charging sector in recent years, enabling smaller adapters without sacrificing power. Ugreen’s latest novelty, the Nexode Air 45W Ice Chip charger, raises the bar even further by taking the concept of pocketability to a new level.
Recently launched on the Chinese market, it stands out for its incredibly slim profile of only 12.5 millimeters, a feature that makes it one of the most compact devices in its category.

Practically, Nexode Air 45W measures 62.2 x 42.74 x 12.5 mm with a total weight of about 54 grams. The device is about 58% smaller in volume than the company’s previous 45W models.
The choice of a flat rectangular shape, paired with the folding pins, was designed to allow the user to slide the charger into their pocket without creating any visible or cumbersome bulk.
Aesthetically, it sports a silver-gray finish and houses a single USB-C port located on the bottom edge. Despite the ultra-compact design, Ugreen has not neglected performance and heat management.
The charger actually includes the Thermal Guard system, which monitors internal temperature several times per second to ensure the outer surface never exceeds critical levels. Thanks to a power conversion efficiency of 90% and a power density of 1.496 W/cm3, the supply ensures fast charging, minimizing energy waste.
The device is built with a range of protections against overcurrent, overvoltage, and short circuits, all housed in an outer shell made of flame-retardant material. Nexode Air 45W also features an intelligent regulation system that adjusts energy delivery in real time during charging phases.
The new ultra-thin Ugreen solution was launched in China at a price of 109 yuan, equal to about €13 at the current exchange rate. Fingers crossed, and we hope to see it soon in our markets as well!
