Netflix price hike in the USA: is trouble brewing for us too?

After Disney+ price hikes from last October, the blow could reach Netflix users. At the moment the price increases for all subscriptions have been confirmed only in the United States: here is how much the video streaming service will cost, based on the new price list.

The latest Netflix price increase in the United States dates back to January 2025 while for Europe the hit arrived in October of the same year — but not in Italy. In the meantime the company has officially confirmed the price hikes directly through the support page: now prices start at $8.99 per month for the ad-supported Standard plan. Here is the updated price list, with the comparison between old and new prices.

Old priceNew price
Standard with ads$7.99 per month$8.99 per month
Standard$17.99 per month$19.99 per month
Premium$24.99 per month$26.99 per month

Higher-tier subscriptions have risen by $2 while the ad-supported plan has risen by $1. While these figures may seem small, the price-increase policy is now crystallized and it is clear that they will come on an annual cadence.

Clearly, increasing the subscription price does not correspond to an improvement of the plans: the services offered remain unchanged.

Is there bad news on the way for Italy?

As we write, there are no price changes for Italy. However — as noted above — periodic increases are part of the game, so it’s likely that in the coming months there will be a shift also for our country (or at least for the European territory). At the moment Italian prices are as follows:

Italy price
Standard with ads€6.99 per month
Standard€13.99 per month
Premium€19.99 per month
