vivo has kicked off the teaser campaign for the upcoming V80, publishing on its X account a video accompanied by the motto “My Cinematic Moments”. The message suggests that the camera department will once again be at the heart of the launch strategy, but for now vivo has not confirmed any technical specifications of the phone.
The video published by vivo does not reveal specifications, limiting itself to showing the device in the final shot and focusing on the camera’s cinematic capabilities. Being the first official promotional move, it is likely that in the coming weeks vivo will gradually release additional details.
Even before the teaser launch, a leak circulating in recent hours would have already revealed some of the main details of the next model in the V series.
The device would feature a 7,200 mAh battery, representing a significant jump from the 6,500 mAh of the vivo V70. On the photography front, there is talk of an AI Creative Camera mode with over 30 AI-based effects, in some ways comparable to the 25 styles already offered on the vivo X300 FE, as well as a Live Sticker Collage function designed to create collages by combining Live Photos and stickers.
According to the same rumors, vivo V80 should debut in India in the first week of October, arriving as the true successor to vivo V70 a few weeks after the launch of vivo V80 Lite.
Officially confirming the exact date and any release in Italy remains to be seen. In the meantime, note that the new V80 could be the Western rebrand of the Chinese model vivo S60: the V and S series have always had a very strong link, notwithstanding some technical differences (for example in the chipset).
