OnePlus N6 Lite will be the cheapest smartphone ever produced by the brand

Pete Lau’s company is set to further expand the N lineup with a new entry-level model: OnePlus N6 Lite is expected in India by the end of this month, positioning itself as the cheapest device ever produced by the brand.

Rumors confirm the brand’s strategy for the Global market, now represented solely by India (after the exit from Europe and the USA), mainly consisting of affordable smartphones.

OnePlus N6 Lite: launch expected by the end of the month, but still no confirmation

According to the leaker Abhishek Yadav, the new OnePlus N6 Lite is expected to debut on the Indian market by the end of September. At the moment there is no official confirmation from the company, neither on the timeline nor on the very existence of the device.

The most interesting aspect is the price positioning: the supposed N6 Lite would sit below the current entry level of the N lineup, OnePlus N6x (which starts from 18,999 rupees, about 172€ at the exchange rate).

If confirmed, it would thus be the third model in the N series dedicated to the budget tier, with an even more aggressive price positioning than seen so far.

As the specifications of the OnePlus N6 Lite are not yet known, the only available point of reference remains the technical specifications of the current N6x, the cheapest in the range: a 6.8″ HD+ LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, a Dimensity 6360 Apex chipset, a 7,000 mAh battery, a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera.

Probably the N6 Lite version will also feature a MediaTek chipset and we can also expect an extra-large battery, now the hallmark of the N family (OnePlus N6 debuted with 8,000 mAh).

The possible arrival of the OnePlus N6 Lite fits into a broader brand strategy, which has officially confirmed the exit from the European and North American markets, forgoing the launch of new products in these areas while ensuring support, updates and after-sales service to existing customers, managed directly by OPPO.

With this reorganization, the OPPO group has redesigned the geographic distribution of its brands: OnePlus focuses on Asian markets, with China as the primary market but with India as a key market for global expansion, while Realme moves in the opposite direction, leaving China behind to grow in international and European markets, an area where OPPO remains present with its Find lineup.

In this context, an ultra-cheap model like the N6 Lite designed specifically for India appears consistent with the brand’s new direction.

While confirmations on the N6 Lite are awaited, on the opposite end of the range rumors about OnePlus 16, the brand’s next flagship, are multiplying.

According to what has emerged so far about the camera and other features, the new flagship would feature a 200 MP main sensor and a 50 MP autofocus selfie camera. The package would also include a 6.78-inch BOE OLED display, a 2 nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, and a 9,000 mAh battery.

It’s no small detail that leaks point to Android 17 paired with ColorOS 17 as the launch software: as also confirmed by from the closed beta already started by OPPO, OxygenOS on an international level is now a closed chapter.
