You can now buy a new HTC product, but it’s not a smartphone

The renowned Asian brand HTC expands its business horizons by officially bringing its smart glasses VIVE Eagle to Europe, North America and Australia.

It has a starting price of €469 and combines a traditional aesthetic with advanced artificial intelligence features.

The user has an integrated camera, voice commands and instant translations, all designed to reduce dependence on the smartphone screen for small everyday tasks.

HTC VIVE Eagle, the smart glasses are arriving in Europe as well

The strategy adopted by the company is very clear: to create a tech accessory that feels completely natural to wear on the street. The VIVE Eagle abandons flashy shapes in favor of classic lines, offering frames rendered in the popular Square and Pantos styles.

Shoppers can choose from several colors and take advantage of ZEISS-branded lenses. Despite the presence of electronic components, the total weight remains at a mere 49 g, ensuring comfort comparable to traditional eyeglasses or sunglasses.

Thanks to the IP54 certification, the frame provides solid resistance to dust and water splashes, allowing confident use in various environmental conditions.

Discrete hardware and intelligent software

Naturally concealed inside the frame, we find a 12 MP ultra-wide camera designed to take photos and record stabilized video at a maximum resolution of 3K.

The company has opted for directional open-ear speakers, an ingenious solution that transmits sound directly to the ears without sealing them. This system allows you to enjoy music, engage in phone calls, and hear the voice assistant’s responses while maintaining full environmental awareness.

The operating system relies on the proprietary VIVE AI, which leverages the immense computing power of language models known as ChatGPT from OpenAI and Google Gemini.

Through voice, the wearer can dictate quick notes, ask complex questions, or request the immediate translation of dialogues from live conversations and road signs framed by the camera.

The built-in battery guarantees up to 4.5 hours of continuous music playback. To support users during the busiest days when moving from place to place, the company has developed an extremely fast magnetic charging system. It is enough to connect the dedicated cable for just 10 minutes to restore the charge from 1% to 50%.

The importance of privacy and respect

A very sensitive topic for wearable devices with integrated cameras is respecting the people around you. HTC has addressed this by including a clearly visible LED indicator that lights up automatically to warn those nearby whenever recording video or taking photos.

Multimedia content captured is stored securely, saved locally on the internal memory, and protected by a robust encryption system.

With a price of $499 in the United States and £429 in the United Kingdom, HTC significantly expands the distribution of this project.
