Awaiting a stable One UI 9, Samsung is already looking ahead to the next One UI 9.5

With the debut of the new foldables, Samsung has also announced the latest One UI 9; however the stable release for everyone has not yet started and, for now, the software is present only on board of Z Fold 8/8 Ultra and Z Flip 8.

Tests continue for various models, both as public beta and in closed form, and concern the top-of-the-line Galaxy S family as well as tablets and mid-range of the Galaxy A series.

Meanwhile, away from the spotlight, Samsung would have already started development of One UI 9.5, the next mid-cycle update expected directly in 2027.

Samsung has initiated development of One UI 9.5 for the most recent flagship models

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

According to the source, the development of One UI 9.5 would involve the Galaxy S26 family with a CZH1 codename.

Work on the next software version would have begun well ahead of last year: Samsung would have begun working on One UI 8.5 by mid-September, so we’re talking about at least a month’s head start on the schedule.

In short, the tech giant has decided to speed up the timeline, but this does not mean that the update will arrive earlier. Almost certainly it is a plan to have more time to refine all aspects of the next version of the interface.

La nuova strategia software di Samsung

As of this year, Samsung has begun implementing a new software release strategy. The tech giant has always alternated a major One UI version with a mid-cycle update, but with the debut of the Galaxy S26 series, the focus shifted to foldables.

Compared to the past, the launch of the new Galaxy S devices coincided with the arrival of One UI 8.5 (the mid version) while in July it was the turn of One UI 9.0, together with Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8.

A quando il debutto?

This means that the launch of One UI 9.5 will occur together with the Galaxy S27 series, however the release window remains uncertain. Rumors about the new lineup are many, but for now there is no talk yet of the Unpacked event. Anyway we take for granted the usual window of January/February, while for the exact month we will necessarily have to wait for credible leaks or an official confirmation.
