The Xiaomi division has started revving its engines ahead of the launch of the Redmi K100 series. The first official teaser shows a glimpse of the design and confirms the brand’s participation in the ChinaJoy event (from July 31 to August 3).
Most likely, during this period we will get a taste of the capabilities of the lineup while the actual debut should take place during August.
Awaiting official news, here the base model of the family pops up on Geekbench, with the first confirmations on the specifications: yes, we will be dealing with a flagship and this could have positive implications for us Italian users as well.
The smartphone has appeared in the benchmark platform’s database under the code M511CD and scores of 3,429 and 10,461 points, respectively in single-core and multi-core.
The device sports 16 GB of RAM and Android 16, while the chipset characteristics leave no doubt: it’s the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC.
We can expect flagship-grade specs even if some doubt remains: Redmi K100 should mount the 8 Elite Gen 5 chip but which will be the heart of the bigger brother? The top variant usually mounts the premium SoC more recent and, consequently, Redmi K100 Pro Max is expected with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6.
However Qualcomm’s event is set for September 22 while the release window for the K100 family is still uncertain: rumors point to September or even August, in this case quite ahead of the Summit dedicated to the new Snapdragon.
Whatever the fate of the K100 family, its appearance on Geekbench is good news for Western users as well. Redmi’s flagships are expected in Global version under the POCO brand, as tradition, and will appear here as the POCO F9 Pro and F9 Ultra.
The two smartphones are a certainty since they have already received certifications listing the commercial names.
So our F9 Pro will have the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, along with the specs (leaks) that you can see below. It remains to be seen what will be the fate of the F9 Ultra brother, whether it will share the same SoC as the smaller brother or will mount the 8 Elite Gen 6 version.
