When it comes to Xiaomi, the step from rumor to reality can become incredibly quick in a flash. Last week there were whispers about the existence of POCO X8, a new addition to the X series identified thanks to clues inside the HyperOS code.
Only a few days were needed and here the device has been officially confirmed. It is a certification, but little is needed to understand that the launch is practically around the corner.
Generally, the appearance of a new smartphone is a slow process, made of code names, acronyms, benchmarks, until a first confirmation arrives. This time we skip straight to the finale thanks to the Thai NBTC certification with code 2607DPC18G and the product’s commercial name.
This confirms the identity of the phone, namely POCO X8. The code also provides a hint about the debut, in the Xiaomi style: usually, the numbers at the beginning indicate the launch window and in this case “2607” leaves no doubt. The phone should be announced in July, or in the following weeks (very likely in August).
The new mid-range in the X series should debut as a rebrand of Redmi Note 17 Pro, launched in China in mid-July. Accordingly, we can expect an almost identical technical sheet; the only exception is the battery, which should drop to 8,340 mAh (compared to the 9,000 mAh of the Chinese twin).
In addition to POCO X8, the HyperOS code had also revealed the existence of POCO M8 Power. In this case, Xiaomi has already confirmed the launch of the device: the Power model is coming to India in the coming weeks and the company has started to warm up the engines with the first official teasers.
