Cold shower for Galaxy S27 Pro: no Snapdragon in Europe

The debut of the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro series is shaping up to be rich in novelties for Samsung, with the introduction of the new Galaxy S27 Pro. Initially described by rumors as a kind of compact version of the Ultra model, the latest rumors clarify that this new variant will have its own well-defined identity, especially regarding the processor.

The chipset choice will, indeed, once again mark a clear distinction between different geographical regions, confirming the Korean giant’s intention to increase the share of internally produced components.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro: the return of the Exynos vs Snapdragon challenge in 2027

Samsung Galaxy S26

For the vast majority of global markets, including Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and Latin America, the Galaxy S27 Pro will be equipped with the new processor Exynos 2700. On the other hand, units sold in North America (United States, Canada and Mexico) will continue to mount a Qualcomm Snapdragon solution.

This choice creates a significant gap compared to the Galaxy S27 Ultra, which is expected to remain the only model in the entire lineup to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (For Galaxy) chip on a global scale. Consequently, the S27 Pro cannot be considered a true mini Ultra, since it will not share the same SoC as its bigger brother in all markets.

The Exynos 2700 is not a mere update, but a notable qualitative leap as the second Samsung chip manufactured with a 2-nanometer second-generation process (SF2P). The practical benefits should translate into a 26% reduction in energy consumption and an increase in clock speed by 15% compared to the previous generation.

In addition to the Pro variant, the base models Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ will also adopt the same regional strategy based on the Exynos 2700. However, despite the excellent premises of the new chip and the integration of features such as the Privacy Display on all models, the choice will spark discussion among Qualcomm purists.
