OPPO Find X9 Ultra is among the best Camera Phones, but Huawei remains on top | DxOMark

After quite a few months since its release, here OPPO Find X9 Ultra ends up in the DxOMark ranking with a bittersweet result. If on one hand the Camera Phone sits among the best in the category, on the other it fails to surpass (according to the well-known portal) rivals branded Huawei and vivo.

Let’s take a look at the final assessment and the overall ranking of the best devices for photographic performance.

The final result of OPPO Find X9 Ultra is solid, with its 170 points: the flagship scored 175 points in the photo section, standing out in particular for the depth effect and long-distance shots with telephoto; on the video side we have 161 points, with a good overall performance. Remember the system on board the device, equipped with Hasselblad optimizations:

  • Main: 200 MP, f/1.5, 23 mm, 1/1.12″, PDAF, OIS
  • Telephoto: 200 MP, f/2.2, 70 mm, 1/1.28″, optical zoom 3x, PDAF (15 cm – ∞), OIS
  • Telephoto: 50 MP, f/3.5, 230 mm, 1/2.75″, optical zoom 10x, PDAF, OIS
  • Ultra-wide: 50 MP, f/2.0, 14 mm, 123°, 1/1.95″, PDAF

These lenses are complemented by a multispectral sensor, while the imaging technology OPPO Lumo handles everything.

Pros and Cons for DxOMark

The flagship confirms itself as one of the heavyweights of mobile photography thanks to its ability to capture an extraordinary level of detail and texture, keeping images clean and free of digital noise in most usage scenarios.

One of the most evident advantages is the exceptional zoom section: thanks to a dual periscope telephoto system, OPPO Find X9 Ultra guarantees sharp and natural shots even at long and very long distances, surpassing many of its direct competitors in precision.

Portrait mode also deserves an honorable mention, as it offers a very realistic bokeh effect with precise subject separation and skin tone rendering that is extremely faithful. In video, the experience is smooth and professional thanks to an effective stabilization and generally accurate exposure that covers a very wide dynamic range.

However, even a Camera Phone of this level presents some drawbacks that emerge especially in the most extreme shooting conditions. The main limitations are encountered in low-light situations or scenes with very strong contrasts, where occasional exposure instability can appear between shots.

Another aspect to consider concerns color casts: in indoor environments or with warm lighting, photos and videos tend toward orange, compromising neutrality. Although night photos are high quality, video performance in low-light conditions is not as constant, highlighting a loss of fine details and the appearance of noise in the shadow areas.

Finally, autofocus, while generally reliable, can sometimes be slow or show uncertainties during video transitions, occasionally failing to focus on the desired subject.

OPPO Find X9 Ultra ranks third in the DxOMark ranking, with a score equal to that of the vivo X300 Ultra. Above the flagship we find the vivo X300 Pro and, at the top of the list, Huawei Pura 80 Ultra.
