In recent days, Motorola has begun releasing the first official teasers for the new Edge 70 Max, flagship of the series coming with support for magnetic wireless charging – a real rarity in the Android landscape. The feature, snubbed by the vast majority of manufacturers, won’t be the only perk of this device, at least according to the latest leaks.
Insider Roland Quandt has published the device’s press renders, showing its design. Motorola Edge 70 Max presents itself as the most traditional of the series models: a squared-off camera module and a display with a central punch-hole, a look that’s now widely tried-and-true. Compared with the Edge 70 Pro, it features a flat-edged display, thus moving closer to the front-facing aesthetic of the standard Edge 70.
Based on what has emerged, it will be an Extreme AMOLED panel of 6.82″ diagonal. According to the leaks the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (not Elite), in line with previous rumors; to power it, a battery of 7,100 mAh, the largest in the entire Edge 70 series.
We remind once again that the new Max model will be the first Motorola with support for magnetic wireless charging, using the Qi2 standard at 25W. As also stated at the opening, this is Android’s reply to Apple’s MagSafe: a system with magnets integrated under the chassis, a true rarity in the current tech landscape.
The camera system is expected to be based on Sony’s LYT-710 sensor (50 MP); finally, the phone is expected in Onyx Black, Sage Green and Glacier Blue.
The debut is just around the corner, even though Motorola has not yet confirmed the exact date. However, it is worth noting that for the moment the launch is said to be in India; let’s keep our fingers crossed for a possible debut in our region.
