Recently Xiaomi kicked off the debut of the new generation of mid-range with Redmi 17C. However the entry-level does not introduce major changes compared to the previous version, raising some doubts for the main series.
No fear, because a Chinese insider has revealed several details of Redmi Note 17 and 17 Pro Max, unveiling some significant improvements compared to the current models. Here’s what we can expect from both smartphones, based on the latest additions and rumors leaked in the past weeks.
What to expect from Redmi Note 17 and 17 Pro Max, the new Xiaomi mid-range lineup
For the base device, the Redmi Note 17, we should again find a Qualcomm chipset. The phone would continue what was seen with Redmi Note 15, moving from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 to the recent Snapdragon 6 Gen 5.
The flat AMOLED display should improve with a resolution 1.5K, a step up from the current Full HD, but for now there are no details on the size. The battery would benefit from recent developments in silicon-carbon technology, with a colossal unit of 9,000 mAh.
The camera setup would rely on a 50 MP main sensor, but there are no details on the other lenses.
The lineup will see an enlarged version equipped with the Dimensity 7500, a mega 10,000 mAh battery, a waterproof chassis, a flat 1.5K AMOLED display, and a 200 MP camera. The details align with previous leaks dedicated to Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, the new addition that should replace the current Pro+ upper variant.
However, at the moment there are still some doubts: it’s not out of the question that these specifications pertain to the Note 17 Pro model, while its Pro Max brother could opt for a Snapdragon SoC (following the previous Redmi Note 15 Pro+).
Release window
Based on the leaks, this year Redmi should opt for a two-stage launch. In July only the Redmi Note 17 standard should make an appearance, while the Pro and Pro Max models are expected for late July or August.
The Global release remains an unknown, but it is likely that for the Italian launch we will have to wait until early 2027.
What will change with the Global version?
After this recap of the series’ novelties, it is worth clarifying: at the moment the rumors concern the models arriving in China and we do not know exactly how things will change for us.
Usually Global/Italian devices have differences compared to those launched in China (especially in terms of display aesthetics and cameras). Just take a look at Redmi Note 15 Italian and Redmi Note 15 Chinese to notice several changes between one version and the other.
