From September the race of top-of-the-range models will begin, but rumors about the main upcoming models have already started some time ago. As the weeks pass, the details around the future flagship series branded vivo are becoming clearer. This time it’s about vivo X500, the smallest in the family: the first “tangible” rumors suggest a shift in direction for the compact flagship, with a larger screen but some hardware compromises.
The current vivo X300 does not have anything to envy its bigger Pro brother: equipped with the latest Dimensity 9500, the smartphone features a 6.31″ AMOLED display, compact dimensions and a triple-camera setup led by a 200 MP main sensor.
In these hours Digital Chat Station has published a brief preview of the technical specifications of vivo X500, and surprises were not lacking. The device would continue to offer a flat screen but larger: it would rise to 6.59″, with an overall size increase that would allow mounting a 7,500 mAh battery.
Definitely a nice step forward compared to the 6,040 mAh (China) and 5,360 mAh (Global, Italy) of X300; we can take for granted the dual charging – wired and wireless – but the insider remains vague.
Under the hood, the first compromise: the next X500 would come with the Dimensity 9500 chipset, i.e., the flagship SoC of this generation. No 9600, reserved for the higher-end siblings.
It won’t be a top-of-the-line but a high-end model, for a soft entry into the new series. The role of compact flagship would fall to vivo X500 Pro: expected with a 6.37″ display and the Dimensity 9600, the phone would also offer a LOFIC 50 MP camera and an extra-large battery.
The true star of the family would be the new vivo X500 Pro Max: named explicitly by a certification, the device would feature a 6.85″ LTPO 2K display, the Dimensity 9600 Pro, 7,000/8,000 mAh battery, a LOFIC 50 MP sensor and a 200 MP periscope telephoto.
Moving to the camera department, the X500 would lose the 200 MP main sensor. In reality, all models in the family seem to be equipped with the same 50 MP module of size 1/1.28″; the two Pro are expected with LOFIC HDR, but it is likely that this feature will not be present for the standard version.
The rest of the setup should include a 64 MP periscope telephoto (also for the Pro) and an ultra-wide lens.
Rumors about the release of the X500 series swing between an early launch (September) and the usual October window, as with the X300 family. In the case of the first hypothesis, it will be a very crowded month among the iPhone 18, Xiaomi 18, perhaps OnePlus 16 and someone bets even on the Find X10.
